CHEROKEE LAKE
#1
The water level is rising with the surface temperature at 79.6 degrees. The water is murky colored on the main parts of the lake and stained to muddy on the upper end.

Largemouth and smallmouth bass are on points, humps, weedy banks, and flats. Fish the surface to 20 feet deep. Try Carolina-rigged worms or lizards, top-water lures, white spinner baits, and jigs.

Catfish are being caught near rocky bluffs, creeks, or rocky bottoms with shad and night crawlers.

Bluegill are active along bluffs and shady areas.

Striped bass and Cherokee bass are most active in the areas of Cherokee Dam in late evenings. Also check Point 4 to 8, 17 to 19, 21 and 24. Fish 10 to 40 feet deep with jigging spoons or live shad. Some are being caught by trolling with white or pink jigs tipped with twister tail grub and 30 plus crank baits.

Some crappie are being caught early around brush piles, willow trees, or submerged trees along bluffs. The best bait is a minnow.
