Deer Creek Bass?
#1
How is the LM/SM Bass fishing at Deer Creek. I have never been and would like to give it a try this weekend, but didn't want to waste my time if it's no good.

Thanks!

It's well worth a try. There are some very nice fish in there. And, yes, there are some Largemouths in there too. I guess you just have to know where to look or be lucky. Five years of bass fishing at DC have yielded a meager 1 largemouth bass caught. This april, it was 18" and about three pounds. The smallies are everywhere. Just look for typical hangouts such as gravel and rocks, drop offs, and other standard areas. Typical bass lures will catch you fish.

Last time I was there I caught a bunch of small smallmouth and 1 small largemouth down in the weedbed in the Wallsburg arm.

Just like 3 weeks ago I went there off the west side of the island. There are most definitely largemouth in there, although there aren't that many compared to how many smallmouth there are. I was fishing a smoke sparkle 4" senko wacky style with no weight, and I caught several small smallies and 2 nice huge largemouths! One was estimated about 3 lbs., the other was bigger than that, maybe 4, but I lost it right at shore and Sadly watched it swim away. It was huge!! Go out there and get a few! Very early or very late is best -- you'll have to fight less water and jetskiers, and the fish will come in a bit shallower too.
