Fish planted at Provo & Weber Rivers?
#1
Does anyone know if the Provo and Weber rivers have recently been planted? Most of our catch are 8 - 10" browns & whites.

It would not seem right if they planted the Provo after such an uproar the last few years about stunting due to overpopulation. Judging by how few the fish are one the Weber I doubt that they ever plant it.

this is because your fishing low water in the summer. this is when he fly fishing is the easiest on the river and all the smaller fish bite. thanks to poor management of the water the river has suffered for the last 4 years and not sure if it will ever recover.

The Provo is not stocked--browns naturally reproduce very well. Bonneville cutthroat were being stocked in an attempt to add variety and restore a population, but not in numbers great enough to affect the overpopulation of browns (remember, it's the browns that are overpopulated). However, low reproduction success and poor feedback (complaints) from anglers has prompted the DWR to cease stocking of cutthroat in the Lower and Middle Provo.

The Provo is not stocked on the lower and middle sections. However the river will get some planting up higher along the Mirror Lake Highway and after it leaves Provo Caynon.
