Made the annual family trip down to Powell. It's usually a non-fishing week but I always take my fly rod with me....just in case.
We pull into a bay around 6-6:30 and I couldn't believe my eyes. There were thousands of shad dancing on the rocks and strippers everywhere running after them. We sat and watched for about 20 min until I couldn't take it anymore. A quick fast trip back to the houseboat and I was armed and dangerous.
When we got back the boiling was still going on. For the next 3 hours the whole bay the size of a football field was on fire. I'm not sure on the size and weight of any of the fish but I fought more than I cared to count. I even hooked a large mouth, what a bonus.

Thanks for the great report, that must have been fun with that much action, sure is lucky you took your rod. I hope someday when we get out of this drought, Willard gets back to the days when we could catch fish during a boil. Now days, if the wipers start boiling we can't even get on the lake to fish them in a boat. It is really great to hear someone getting into some boils even if it isn't at Willard, thanks again for reminding me what it is like. WH2

I wish I had a pic of the boils also, especially when all the shad were hoping up the rocks and the stripers chasing them up the rocks.
I've got a pic of one of the bigger strippers I caught, I'll post tomorrow.

Here's a pic of a nice striper, I threw in the large mouth also.
Old Coot- I was up in the Hansen Creek/Forgotton Canyon area.
Ok, I'm having trouble posting the pics. I'm browsing for the image and then uploading it, what's the deal?

Oh no no no, no 2 wt for those. I don't think I'd dare go smaller than the 5 wt I was using.
BTW, you've got a PM over at FW.
