Kentucky Lake & Lake Barkley
#1
Fishing is good and fishing has been fun the past week. Whitebass are feeding on the surface early and late in the day. Inline spinners, such as a Mepps Aglia #4, are working best. The fish chase minnows to the surface and have been providing some of the fastest fishing on the lakes. When the white go down from the surface, fish the bottom just under the location you last saw the fish on the surface. Smallmouth are slow, but some nice fish have been reported. Small Carolina rigged worms are the better bait. Largemouth are good on the drop off, especially in Lake Barkley. The fish are not running lunker size, but the numbers are good. Bluegill are still hitting live bait around the docks. Catfishing is very good below Kentucky Dam. Both live bait and cut shad are working. Scattered sauger are being caught on Kentucky Lake. Crappie are slow and few fishermen are after them.

TIP: The larger whitebass usually cruise under the surface and catch the wounded fish from the surface.

BITS AND PIECES: It's hard to be depressed if you look for things that make you grateful.

www.kentuckylakebarkley.com
