Canyon Lake & Upper Guadalupe River Guide Report
#1
CANYON LAKE: Water clear; 86 degrees; 909.96':

Largemouth are are good at first light in 12'-20' on mainlake points and submerged rock jetties on Carolina rigged green-pumpkin Snap Back creature baits (www.terminatorlures.com), Texas rigged Craw Tubes and
chrome/blue Frenzy divers (www.berkley-fishing.com).

Smallmouth are fair to good over rockpiles in 6'-20' on a Cisco crankbait (www.photonlures.com) silver/blue Sliding Weight Craw Fish, 4" pumpkin Slider worms on jigheads and 3/6 oz. pumpkin/brown Terminator finesse jigs w/Uncle Josh trailers. Between tournament fishing and guiding we are using A LOT of soft plastics right now. To save money we use a drop of Pro's Soft Bait Glue www.prosoftbaitglue.com at the hook eye and to repair them when they rip and they will...tear up.

Stripers are very slow in 60'-80'. Suggestions are dragging a 1/2 oz. white Hyper Striper jig (www.kgenterprise.com) w/plastic trailer on downriggers,
vertically jigging a 1 oz. Pirk Minnow and drifting & tightlining live shad from Turkey Cove Point to the dam at night.

For area info. or to book a guided trip with the most experienced, Fulltime, professional guides on this lake contact JR's Guide Service (www.jrguideservice.com); call (830) 833-5688 or email jimfish@moment.net.
