Rockport 9-26
#1
Hit Rockport with my dad today from 2:00 to sundown. We lost track of how many fish we caught. He caught a whole bunch of perch and smallmouth on nightcrawlers. His second fish was a 16" Brown trout. I fished with a dropshot rig using a smoke colored senko. I caught one smallmouth that was 14" and 2 pounds. I caught a couple more that were 13". Couldn't weigh one of them cause he wouldn't hold still, after he flipped of the scale the second time I decided I better put him back in the lake. Hooked into something really big but it got off before I could see what it was. I lost count of how many little smallies I caught.

We took Dad's boat out. Fished near the dam and the smallies were in about 40 feet of water. The perch seemed to be a little shallower.

I am glad to hear that someone had some good luck up there yesteday. I was there yesterday morning to mid afternoon and was fishing from the dam. I couldn't catch a fish if they grew legs and walked up on the shore and said "eat me". Even the perch weren't bitting there.

You gotta love 14 inch smallmouth.
Good to see you got into the fish. The wind blows up there so regular that sometimes working a finnesse lure can be difficult.

good to hear that you got into the smallies. i usually never fish at rockport. maybe once or twice a year. i need to open my horizons a little and give certain waters a little more attention.
