Trout Kiss and I are planning an outing to the Berry for one last chance to get into a big fish for my 5 yr old. He's getting tired of perch at the nelle. The plan is to leave the valley at 6 and launch around 8. Is that to late?
I've heard the fish are not so deep. How deep does that mean they are? What kinds of lures should we be using.
Any info would help.
I'll be on channel 12.

Hey Troll-
So your taking the little guy to the Berry... better be careful, it will become a habit that can't be broken real easy.
You asked a number of questions, most have been addressed in previous posts and reports in the last week or two ( just search "strawberry" and stand back ), but here goes...

I've heard the fish are not so deep. How deep does that mean they are? [#000000]top 5' -7' of water, closer in to the shallow/warmer water and bays.[/#000000] What kinds of lures should we be using. [#000000]simply pull a long line rig with a 1/4 oz sliding weight approx 5 ft above a wooly booger or tube gig tiped with worm. use your light spining poles and around 10lb test for the most action and fun.[/#000000][/#ff4040]

Troll,
First of all follow papabaruu advice as it is good advice. But a few addidions. 8:00 AM is just a tad too late for the sun rise which was amazing on tuesday. Who needs that extra hour a sleep when there is fishing to do. And the second is black wooley buggers. LloydE has also been having really good success with spoons. In his own words from his post last week (I was using Crystalina Spoons. The one that I used most was color #19 in the 1/8 oz size. ).

Also don't be afraid to troll over a little deeper water like 25-35 feet deep but keep your bait shallow. Good luck!

MY FATHER & I DID WELL TROLLING MUDDLER FLIES JUST UNDER THE SURFACE. GPS SPEED 1.5 - 2.0 . SOMETIMES WE TIPPED WITH SMALL PIECE OF WORM. WE TRIED TROLLING LURES BUT DID NOT HAVE MUCH SUCCESS. JIGGING CLOSE TO SHORE IS ALSO GOOD. WE USED WHITE TUBE JIGS/WORM OR MINNOW. FISHON....
