Willow Park Pond 10/6
#1
I fished Willow Park Pond today 10:00 to 3:00. Last good report said that they caught them on Kastmaster. So, I started with that. First cast 1 fish. Tryed it and every other lure in my box. No more fish. Then I switched to bait. First cast-- 1 fish. Then no more fish. There were a few fish rising so I put on flies. First two casts one fish each. Then the hatchery truck showed up and dumped in a load of hungry fish. I ended up with 54 fish for the day. They range from 8-12". Other people were catching fish but not nearly as fast as those using a fly and bubble like me.

You weren't the guy who gave me a fly today by any chance ? I got there around the hatchery truck time (11:00) and left at about 3:00. Lost count on number of fish, most came on kastmasters and some on a fly and bubble for me.

The only trout native to Utah is the cutthroat. Nowdays most fish are from the hatchery or their parents were, they still fight and most of them taste good too. Can anyone give me directions to willow park pond ? my bro just moved to that area and is looking for a good after work place to fish.

Is there something wrong with planters? Planters, wild, native, whatever I don't care they fight just the same and the action can be fast regardless.

Hey Al, If you get an itch to fish today drop me a line. I am thinking of hitting something today to catch some perch for the weekend.

Cheers.

You can also pick up a free little booklet at Wallmart or other places where licenses are sold called "Community Fishing". It gives you direction to many local ponds and provides details as to species of fish available. You can also go to the DWC website and download a copy from thier publications page.

I fished the pond again today from 1:30 to 4:30. I caught 25 rainbows on my fly and bubble. Must still be a few catfish in there as I saw a lady with one.

I was there this morning also from 9 to 11. The fly you gave me is trashed, lol. I switched to a similiar sized renage but didn't hookup as much. I'm not a fly man but my guess is that the thicker body makes it harder to hook them. Too much of a mouth full [Wink].

There is something about that fly that they seem to like. I fished with a renegade too but didn't catch many fish on it. They were especially hard on my flies today. I wore out several and lost the rest. I had to come home and tie more tonight.
