I got off of work earlier than usual today and had no honey-dos. There was no wind either so off to Lincoln. Conditions were perfect but alas the action wasn't. I fished in the 3rd springs area in the tube. In the 2 hours I was there, my only catch was a water skiing ride on a 30 inch carp (measured). While it was great fun, that was it. I used plastics that were effective this spring for me and floated a crawler for a while. When I came ashore and landed my carp, I talked with a guy coming back from all day fishing in waders. He had one very nice eye that was about 24-25 inches. Sadly, he said he has fished there 5 times this fall and that was his first one. His buddy had caught one Sunday but got skunked today. It sounds like it is still slow all around out there. Good luck to all of you going to the Saturday party. I am unsure I will be out there then. Some other things have come up for me and I haven't decided for sure yet what I will do.

I used a green/black curly tail 3inch grub, silver spinner, and a black/white contrast "sassy shad" plastic. (that was one of my best lures this spring.) I wish I could say one was the ticket today, but obviously, I can't. That guy I talked to was using the "standard" black curly tail grub with a chartreuse tail. The carp was had on the green grub. Good luck.

Just curious...did the carp take the jig or did you snag him?

You never can tell for sure, but the hook was just below those very large lips, so he may have sucked on the lure before I set the hook (or not). Carp were everywhere last night out there, mostly just below the surface.
