LAKE LBJ
#1
Conditions are very good for the daylight topwater bite we are having right now. If you can be on your first spot of the morning BEFORE daylight you should be able to catch bass in the 2-5 lb. range using 1/8 or 1/4 oz. Terminator buzzbaits, Berkley towater poppers, Pop R's, chrome/blue 'Traps and pearl/blue flake plastic jerkbaits. Look for sloping main lake points or stump flats on channel turns upriver in the Guadalupe. As the sun comes up switch to 2" Lit'l Fishie Shads or shallow running firetiger crankbaits and work progressively deeper. After full daylight largemouth move in tight to cover and that is time to get out the pitching rod, tie on something like a 14 oz. watermelon Terminator jig or pumpkin spider jig working into tops of thick laydowns. Along the edges of buckbrush a chameleon, junebug or electric blue
Scoundrel worm on a wacky rig should produce. STRIPERS are into their summertime patterns; holding over humps in 45'-60' of water. Drifting live bait is the best approach, but jigging Horizon Pirk Minnows and Curb's Striper jigs will also work.
WHITE BASS are schooling in main lake creeks and over points. Casting 1/8 oz. chrome Spin Traps, or vertically jigging
Horizon Pirk Minnows or trolling shad-type crankbaits is good.
