Catfish in Pineview?

I have never tried to catch catfish here, but was curious if there are any in there. Would like to have an alternative when it is really windy and I am out there and can just drift.

They are in there, but not in large numbers.

A couple years ago I was trolling a large lure for tiger muskie at Pineview when I hooked a large bullhead catfish. Later I was reading the state records and I believe I might have caught a new state catch-and-release record, without realizing it. I should have known if it would hit a large muskie lure that it might have been a state record.

We have caught some pretty good sized mud cats out of there before. On a worm off the bottom.

To answer your question heres an exerpt from the 2003 Wildlife review magazine published by the UDWR.

"...The hot summer months provide excellent fishing for black bullheads that recieve very little fishing pressure and are considered an under-utilized sport fish at Pineview."
