Help ID these fish -- just for kicks and giggles
#1
Just for fun, let's see who can identify the fish in the attachment correctly. Winners may choose between a sloppy kiss from me, or a date with wormandbobber!

If someone gets all 11 correct, I'll let you know. If no one get's them correct, I'll continue to let people guess as long as there is interest.

FYI -- every fish in the pictures is from Utah.

6. brownbow hybrid. Check out the eyes.
7. splake
8. brown
9. Tiger or brake. Both are similar but only one is worth while.
10. bow
11. cutbow no white fin markings

PBH 6 and 9 would be tough but since you've already posted those pics it's a little easier for us old timers.

Good post.

I've been grading papers.....

so far -- tightline has done the best. here are the results:

nkunz -- 7/11
cat_man -- 7/11
tightline -- 10/11
Fin-s-Fish -- 9/11
Anthonygreer -- 8/11
Baetisman -- 7/11
hedges -- 8/11 (you can only have one answer per fish! take your pick on #9)
Jed Burton -- 0/11 (at least try man!)

#5,6,7 and #9 have NOT been the fish that everyone is missing. There is one fish that not one single person has ID'd correctly yet....

Onelastcast -- -2...9/11

Good try!

by the way, I made a mistake when I said that everyone had missed 1 particular fish. Tightline correctly identified it....he just missed a different one.

Prov17 really wanted that big sloppy kiss from me! Or, was it the date with wormandbobber that did it? 100% for Prov17!

#1. Cutthroat from Strawberry. Note the orange fins
#2. Rainbow from Kolob Res.
#3. Cutthroat from Kolob Res. spots gradually increase as you move towards the tail of the fish. Orange fins.
#4. Splake from Boulder Mtn. (this was the killer for most people). Look carefully at the splake. There are no blue halos around the red spots (brook trout characteristic), and the tail is somewhat forked (Brook trout have squar tails, Lake trout have deeply forked tails). Also, note the spots. Lake trout have irregular shaped spots. Splake have pretty circular spots.
#5. Rainbow from Mill Meadow
#6. Brownbow from Mill Meadow -- note the cataract in it's eye -- dead give-away!
#7. Splake from Mill Meadow
#8. Brown Trout from Diamond Fork
#9. Brake trout from Mill Meadow -- This one might have been hard for anyone that hasn't been on the site long enough to not recall discussions about this picture in the past.
#10. Rainbow -- pretty fish!
#11. Rainbow -- this one caught a few of you! It doesn't have lot's of spots like other rainbows. It's fins are a bit pink, but not orange. This particular river doesn't have cutthroat in it. Also, this river get's almost 0 natural reproduction. The only way it could be a cuttbow, would be for the hatchery to have stocked it. Utah doesn't have any hatcheries that produce cuttbows, so that eliminates that possibility. This fish is 100% rainbow trout.

I think that there are many people that are pretty cutt-bow trigger happy!

Thanks for playing!

Prov -- which prize do you want?
