Henrys Lake
#1
Henrys Lake closed today, but what a last week we had up there - probably the best week of the season - according to the Idaho Fish and Game. All that I know is that Saturday was the best day that I have had this season there out of 54 days of fishing on it. It was hot - hot - not the weather as it was snowing a lot of the day; but the fishing was hot.

I fished Duck Creek ( four fish with a 33 1/2 inch hybrid), Hog Hole ( four fish, all but one over 24 inches) and west of the Cliffs (Hope Creek, 19 fish from 10 inches to 31 inches). It is the first time in 14 years that I have landed two fish over 30 inches on the lake. Hopefully they will live until next spring and we will get the opportunity to catch them again!!!!!

Over by Hope Creek there were three boats and one pontoon boater and we all had great luck. It was as good as it gets; but now we will have to wait until next season for Henrys Lake. In the meantime, we will fish Ririe Reservoir and Island Park Reservoir between elk huntin trips. Then will come ice fishing.

Good Luck to all of you

It is humbling to share an office with the BS master. Bill has been very helpful in laying a trail of crumbs for me to follow on the road to fishing heaven. Everytime I hear Bill's report next to my report I am reminded that "there is no free lunch". He has explored every rock and weed in Henry's Lake for many years. I just hope that my flyfishing shoulder lasts that many casts.
Oh by the way... I caught a 22" female brookie, a 15" male brook, a 25" cutt, and a 20" cut. The 25" cut pulled out a lot of line. I can not imagine what a fish over 30" feels like. I hope I do not have to wait long as I plan on fishing Henry's hard next season.
Good Luck to all. I plan on coming down for a trip when the ice comes.

Bill,
Sounds like a fun last few weeks on Henrys Lake. Keep us posted on how Island Park Res fishes during the winter. That is one of my favorite places to fish.
