Big rainbows out of yuba!
#1
Well my daughter has been nagging me about fishing yuba in case there might still be walleyes in there. So i gave in especially since we had nothing planned for today. We went into the state park and we were the only ones fishing there. There were some people fishing by the dam and they were getting some bites there. My niece caught a 16inch bow and man was it fat!We didnt catch anything else for an hour so we moved by the dam.The guys there had kids and they were doing pretty good with chartreuse powerbait.I decided to jig with spoons but no luck.So i went to my secret weapon!A jakes lure silver with red dots. When the fish are on break use a jakes !Well in a matter of 20 minutes i had hooked up with 4 bows landed 3.Bruce actually brought them in.Samantha hooked up with 1 fat one but it was a 16 incher.I talked to a guy fishing with those kids and he is a ranger there. He said there might be some eyes still in there but not many. Also he told me those bows were 10-12 inches last year when they were planted.Wow they grew a lot in a years time.We didnt catch any perch but those bows were healthy!

Nice fish. Nothing like some fresh trout and waffles in the morning. That one on the bottom is a rotund fella.

Yuba lake is about 25 minutes south of nephi on I-15, it has a marked exit, or you can go south from nephi through levan and south on SR-3, i think that the name of the road.
