Hello Swampy,
Never have tried it but it sure seems like it would work. A couple of the baits I've heard a few times from guys who are known for catching big cats that I have yet to try but will be on my next outing is gold fish, and small sunfish. [signature]

Hey swampy,My good friend has used deer liver for channels with good luck.Cut a nice square chunk sized for your hook,I like bigger hooks 2-2/0 for channels. If you use strips make sure it isn't so long that the flap folds back over the hook point, preventing a good hookset. This might not be as critical with soft liver,as it is with cutbait strips with the skin on them.

i have used beef liver before and it works rather well, it stays on the hook better, but needs refreshing more often. i use strips that are about 2 inches long and about 1/2 an inch wide. i have also used pork liver and that seems to work a little better than beef liver because of the oils that pork has in it! i never drain the liver before i use it. i usually refresh about every 10 to 15 mins. hope this info helps you
