I saw this on the news and in the paper this morning. What a terrible thing to have happen. Especially in the sport of hunting. I hope it doesn't a negative impact on the sport as a whole. My thoughts and prayers go out to the families that lost someone in this horrible ordeal.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of those killed. What better way [besides fishing] to go out an spend a day with friends on a hunt. Only to end like that. This is a dark day for hunting. He had to use an AK-47 to hunt? The anti's will be all over this.

Hunting Massacre Suspect's Family Stunned Tuesday, November 23, 2004
HAYWARD, Wis. — Relatives of a man being held in the deadly shooting of six deer hunters say they are just as stunned and bewildered by the incident as authorities investigating the case.
Thick glass prevented Chai Vang ([url "http://search.foxnews.com/info.foxnws/redirs_all.htm?pgtarg=wbsdogpile&qcat=web&qkw=Chai%20Vang"]search[/url]) from any contact with family members during a brief visit Monday at Sawyer County Jail. They spoke via telephone, mixing English with the native language of Hmong immigrants from Laos ([url "http://search.foxnews.com/info.foxnws/redirs_all.htm?pgtarg=wbsdogpile&qcat=web&qkw=Laos"]search[/url]).
"I still don't believe it," the suspect's brother, Sang Vang, said. "He is one of the nicest persons. ... Maybe something provoked him or something."
Charges had not been filed against 36-year-old Vang, of St. Paul, Minn., as of Tuesday morning. Officials said the state attorney general's office would prosecute the case because of its severity.
Vang is accused of opening fire on several hunters Sunday with a semiautomatic assault rifle. Five people were killed and a sixth died Monday; two others were wounded.
"I just don't think any of this makes sense," Sawyer County ([url "http://search.foxnews.com/info.foxnws/redirs_all.htm?pgtarg=wbsdogpile&qcat=web&qkw=Sawyer%20County"]search[/url]) Sheriff James Meier said.
Meier told reporters a dispute over Vang's use of a tree stand on private property preceded the gunfire. Killed were Robert Crotteau, 42; his son Joey, 20; Al Laski, 43; Mark Roidt, 28; and Jessica Willers, 27.
