Sounds like there will be a BFT party up there on the 4th. Check out madddawgs post about ice fishing party on page 2 of the board. There should be several BFTers there. Its worth the trip. I went on thursday. Maybe this link will work...... Bigcat

[cool]Hey, bud. You don't really need all of the expensive crap to catch fish through the ice. You don't need an ice shantee (except for maybe a day like yesterday or today), a power auger, a fishfinder, or any of that expensive crap. I fish without that all of the time, and do great on the ice.

All you REALLY is an ice rod ($7), a 5 gallon bucket, a hand auger ($30-40) would be the most expensive thing you need. Some ice jigs, some wax or meal worms, and the most important thing would be WARM CLOTHING. A nice little sled or tabogin is optional to carry your stuff out on the ice. That's all you really need. You don't have to be into your gear about $500-1000 like some people are. I'm not, and I catch fish out on the ice almost every time. I many times I outfish the people around me including those with fishfinders. Fishfinders do you no good if you don't have the right technique down.
