I was up at Strawberry last Thursday and to my amazement I caught the same fish twice within a 2 hour period. I could tell it was the same fish because it had the same messed up jaw bone from someone ripping its mouth apart when it was a youngster. I caught a total of 15 including this one fish twice. I know fish have a short term memory but I didn't know it was that short. LOL.

I took up 4 dozen mill worms last Monday with another guy and cauhgt so many fish that we started cutting the remain dozen in half. Around the last part of the day I caught two fish in a row that spit out a full mill worm. SO not in the same 2 hour period but in the same fishing trip... Not sure if it was a fish I caught or my buddy cause we caught over 100 fish total.

We were up at Current Creek a few years back with a bunch of little kids. They were all set up with some of those cheap $15 rod/reel combos. The action was fast so we couldn't always keep an eye on all of the poles at once. Sure enough we heard a loud splash and turned just in time to see on of the kid's poles going into the drink. He was pretty upset to say the least. However, about 30 min later one of the kids pulled in a 12" cutt that had another line coming out of his mouth. We pulled it in by hand and sure enough, there was the other pole on the end of the line. The amazing thing was that the fish had take both hooks into its mouth. He didn't just end up snagging the other pole. Must have been a pretty hungry fish.

Once on the A section of the Green durring the cicada hatch, I cought a nice 18" brown that broke me off as I was landing it. About half an hour later I tried that same spot again on my way back and had another one on. This time I landed it with both of my hand tied ciacdas in its mouth.

I was fishing pineview from the bank and caught a 14" smallmouth on a 1/4 oz double tail jig. I let him go and went on down the bank. I returned about an hour later and caught the same bass on a 1/8 oz crawdad jig. The fish had the mark from the first hook in his upper lip.

CBR-
Did you catch that fish with the messed up mouth at the marina or somewhere else at Strawberry. My friend caught that same fish (or maybe its twin brother) last tuesday at the marina.... Weird!

CBR,
That's hilarious. That is close but the fish I caught had a serious problem with it's left side jaw bone. It kind of freaked me out the first time I caught it. I thought it was some kind of growth at first. LOL I probably would have kept it for being stupid the second time but it fell within the slot just barely. I'm starting to get the feeling that I just keep catching alot of the same fish over and over again but then again that's the good thing about catch and release. LOL

I have caught the same fish twice many times, one of the funnest though was when I was fishing at utah lake last year and caught something big and my line broke just before I got it to shore. about 5 minutes later though I caugt a nice 25" walley and lo and behold, it still had my line haning out of it's mouth.

I'm not sure if i've caught the same fish twice before but it reminds me of a time when I was younger and fishing at Triangle Lake in Oregon. My dad and two of my brothers ALL caught the same Bluegill...at the same time. We got a great picture of the three of them with all of their lines leading to this little Bluegill. I am going to see if I can find it, scan it and post it!

It is actually quite common, especially if you are fishing the exact same spot the whole time. (ice fishing)
I think fish tend to stick to the same territory in a lake throughout the day, especially in the cold weather where the are lethargic and can't spend the energy to move around too much. I kind of think the have a path they like to follow looking for food.
I have also seen it happen quite a bit when shore fishing and casting out to the same spot.
Planted fish are notoriously stupid at hitting bait everytime they see it, even if their lips are ripped apart or the have a huge hook in their throat.

One day Ocean one of my friends and I were fishing in the provo river right before it enters utah lake, ocean landed a little whitey and put it in his folded net in the water, before too long the net got full and one of the fish escaped, we all saw it swimming away so my friend reeled in and got his lure right by the fish, jiggled it a bit and caught the fish again.

When I was a kid me and a friend would fish the 18th hole pond on Riverside Golf course. We would catch those carp and rip the scales off one side and throw them back. Every now and again we would catch one of our "marked" fish. When we caught it again we would rip the scales from the other side. Boys are mean. [angelic]
