First off, this is a great place! I just started ice fishing this year and I'm hooked. My sons and I were at the berry last saturday and did pretty well, 16 slots iced and several lost at the hole. My question is what to wear, waders or snow boots. I'm leaning to my waders but if the slush is staying frozen then maybe the boots. I'm from Kaysville so I know the scoop on crickets and boogers, are they better tipped with waxies or minnows? Last question, I don't have a finder or snowmobile but have the power auger and tent, of the ladders ,cceast, or marina where would be the best fishing?
Thanks!

It actually sounds like the slush situation is improving slightly up there. Some people report 3-4 inches, while others it can be upwards of 8 inches, so I think it is dependant on where you are at.
As for baits, I've had luck with all of the baits you mention, so give them a try, and switch around if your not getting bites. Good luck and welcome aboard!

Hi redbeard... and welcome-
was at the berry friday pm and all saturday, the slush is no problem so wear what is comfortable. You'll need your power auger- we were cutting through 18+ inches of ice and slush (tough slush layer under the upper ice layer).
had best success with 1/4 hunk of crawler on white or chartruese jigs, not so much with wax or mealies... the weather was awesome and the catching was great too with 28/30 fish iced and numerous others almost iced.
good luck...PB

Redbeard- I believe I met you at Hooked Fishing Tackle in Kaysville when I stopped in on my way home from SLC. Nice looking family you had with you. Do you ever get to fish or are you too busy helping the younguns bait their hooks and releasing the fish?
I haven't ice fished the berry yet but used to ice fish Fish Lake years ago. I generally was okay with Pac boots but I have seen times when I got wet above the rubber. If it is thin ice going on like Tubedude posted about his trip to Pelican the waders would prevent you from having to go back to the truck to change your clothes.
I live in Tremonton, so it is a long drive to fish Strawberry for me. I hit the Idaho lakes around Malad often since it is more convenient. Good Luck. Acey
