Rockport Trip (1-16)
#1
Spent about 5 hours at Rockport on Sunday, the fishing was pretty slow by the dam. About 4-5 inches of ice over most of the reservoir. Saw about 15 or so trout caught but only 1 perch. I only managed to catch one trout about 15". Used typical baits and tactics (waxies, mealies, nightcrawlers, ice flies and jigs). It was really hard to pinpoint a depth because the few fish that I marked an the finder were not really at a consistent depth, kinda all over. I talked to a guy who said that they were fishing by the boat ramp and that their whole group caught at least 20 perch and 8 trout each. (Must have been at the right place at the right time.) I talked for a while with a guy who was a BFT member who was there with his son or grandson I think it was, he told me about this forum and so here I am. I'm glad to have heard about this forum, you can never have too much info about where to go and what to use when you get there, and I heard about get togethers for the kids and families and friends. Sounds great and I hope to get lots of feedback.[Smile]

[cool]Welcome aboard BFT/Utah, Linecoach97, and thanks for the informtive report. I'm looking forward to hitting Rockport on Wednesday (I think). Hopefully it isn't getting too warm up there during the days to make the ice start to melt. I want just the opposite to happen.

We were there on Sunday, just down from the Dam. perch were all over the place. Everyone one was bringing them up, didn't seem to matter what type of lure or bait they were using. I could see you guys down by the dam and I was wondering how the fishing was....
I'll be back up there on Saturday.

Hey linecoach97 it was me that you talked to. Glad you checked out the site and I think you will really enjoy it. I have't posted because I have been at the hospital with may das since I got home. It was my grandson that got the perch we gave you for bait but it sounds like it didn't help much. He had a few hits on the bottom I am sure were perch and we only caught five trout. The trout were at about 12 feet down. The perch bite was right on the bottom in about 50 feet of water. If everything goes ok with dad we will probably go up this weekend over by the boat ramp if the ice stays good. Again welcome and glad you joined.
