My son, my grandson, and I fished the Rock today. What a blast! We loaded up on perch over by the ramp and iced about a dozen small trout all by 10:00. Then like clock work, the perch shut down. We did get enough perch to fill our limits before we moved around to find some bigger trout. We found then in only 11' of water. Jace, my grandson landed a Brown that went 18.5" and then pulled out a rainbow that went 17". He ended the day icing one more bow that went 16".
I called for Utcatman but never herd back. Mustbblind called from the shore and came over and fished by us. I think that they did good also, but they spent a lot of time in the tent, so we didn't see them very much.
If you want to have a great fishing trip, take a kid. The memories will last a lifetime. DKS

[cool]Great report, DKS! It's cool that you also got into some nice Trout to fillet too as a bonus. I think I'm gonna hit that place on Wednesday or Thursday. As of right now, I'm only going with me, myself, and I. Anybody wanna meet up either of those days? I'll be there bright and early like 6:45 or 7:00 to make sure I don't miss any Perch time before it shuts off.

Thats a great report!!! My brother in law was up there today and said it was great fishing. I guess we are headed up there in the morning. He was up there today with some guys from work and i guess they all cleaned up. Were the perch you were catching still pretty good sized?

The perch are bigger than last year. They run from an average size of 8" to some in the 10" and 11" size. If you move around, you will find perch in schools of different sizes. We fished closer to shore in 39' of water at first and then moved out to 44'. The bigger fish were in the 39' area this trip. The ice is not changing much. It has been 5" thick for almost 2 weeks. The snow is gone, so it is getting slick again. Cleats or spikes are good Perch eyes are the best bait for the perch and wax worm worked best for the Trout.
I saw some snowmobile tracks on the ice, but I wouldn't try it! The ice was singing and popping a lot, but I understand that is good. DKS.
