Reel ratios do you know what they mean?

I was buying a reel for my trip to miami in may and the sales girl didnt even know what the ratios meant !How can you sell something you dont know anything about. Just a thought.How many people out there dont know what they mean?I needed a high speed reel for the bottom fishing i do thats why i need a fast reel![]

Then you'll want one close to 6.0:1. That means for every full turn you give the crank, the bail, or spool (depending on the type of reel) will spin a full 6 rotations. So the higher the first number, the faster the rell is. Good luck.
