A good and a bad day on the Web. 2/21/05
#1
Went to our club on the Weber River with the grandson today to do some maintenance work of a fishing hole past the north end (clearing a tree out of a fishing hole) and letting the grandson do some fishing.
The bad - Walked the river to the north boundary and met up with an old friend. Remember my scary moose story a year ago? [unsure] Well, I think I ran across him again, but he was dead!!!! [Sad][Sad] He was lying just under the barbed wire fence at the northern extremity. Looked like he'd been there maybe a week? Didn't look starved and didn't have any sign of damage and wasn't tangled in the fence. Looked suspicious. Very Sad to see that big guy that way!!!!!!
The good - on the way back, caught a lot of nice fish to include a 22 1/4 inch guy that I let go for someone else try for. [Smile] My grandson caught several and had a good time while I was absent. Would you believe, I caught em on an ice fly and a ice fishing pole with 3 # test line? Just thought I'd try it. Got a throughing thing to through a tennis ball for Sparky to tire him out. Wasn't successful. [crazy]

After your story last year I didn't think you would want to meet up with him again? I guess time will heal all wounds.

Thats too bad about that old bull moose, even though it tryed to kill you (i think that he was just looking for a friend to play with though[Tongue])

Those are quite the fish taht you catch up ther, hopefully your g-son got some with some size to make his day.

Sorry to here about Mr.moose. Do you think he was old and it was just his time or do you suspect a more vile and suspicious end to his life. Either way perhaps you could report it to the authorities and let them deal with it. At the very least they would likely remove the carcass from your fishin' hole. Come spring that dude is gonna smell awful. I stumbled across a ripe one on beaver creek a few years back an whewie it stank....

Seriously though, those moose are intimidating animals. You'd think they didn't realize they're on the menu....
