Lincoln Beach Report 3-15-05
#1
Got to the second warmsprings about 5:30 p.m. The lake was almost as smooth as glass! Finally no wind!![Smile] I waded out into the lake as far as I could, I fished in between the first and second springs. I had one fish on, but I don't know what it was. I had no other bites. I threw all sorts of colors of curly tail jigs at them, chartreuse, red, orange, yellow and combinations of those colors, I was using a red/green and charteuse curly tail with a orange jighead when I hooked the fish I had on, other than that the action was nonexistent. The water felt pretty darn cold also, maybe this cold front will turn off the eye's for awhile, but I am no expert, does anybody have any suggestions for me on how to catch some eye's. Thanks[Smile]

i was out there saturday and saw about 10 walleye caught. all were caught by waders in about 5' of water. i noticed that most the action was with the guys throwing double jig set ups with dark bodied jigs with chartruce curly tails. looks like thier main line is tied to a swivel, off of which two 2' leders each with a jig on the end. one leder is shorter than the other by about 6". when they cast, thier jiggs hit the water about 2 or 3' apart. when they reel in, one jigg follows in behind the other creating a "two jiggs cruising together look" i would assume the trailor jigg would get most the action. i pitched this set-up tipped with chartruce jiggs (didn't have any dark bodied ones) most the day within 20 yards of the guys catchin 'em, but had no luck. the few eyes we did catch that day were on crawlers fished just off the bottom while taking a break from pitching jiggs.

I talked to someone that has had success using chub minnows. Just sinking them to the bottom and waiting for a take. Just like powerbaiting for trout!
