Its probably way to early to get excited about the uintas but this year I want to try a lot of them. I have hit Trial quite a few times and Joan lake which I loved. I was wondering how Echo and Pyramid might be out in a tube. Or any other lakes that would be worth hitting like the ones at the end of Murdock Basin or North of Trial. I could even go for a little hiking. Any good ideas out there?

You're right, it's way too early. It will be at least mid June this year before you'll get on any of the High Uinta lakes. On heavy snow years like this one, I've cross-country skiied around Trial Lake in mid June, and the lake was still frozen.
If I was tubing, I'd try Butterfly Lake. Then I'd hike over to Castle Lake (1/2 mile). Those trout have never seen a tube.

I had a really good time in a tube at Echo last year on a size 0 gold spinner. Brook trout as fast as you could cast. In the evenings dry flys are fun too. I caught 1 Golden trout in that weekend also.

Thanks for the feedback. I am excited to head up there this summer. Anyone been to Moon Lake? Is it good for tubing?

I think moon lake would be great for tubing. There is an area on the North arm that would be excellent I would think. It's more protected from the w and easy to launch and get back to shore there. I don't remember all the details its been a few years since I went there.

Thanks Cat Man,
Is it always windy up there? Or are there better months than others to go?

I've only been there a couple of times, but I don't remember it ever being windy.
