Keeping track of the catch
#1
Hi,

I've been looking around for an easier way to keep track of what, when and where I've caught something. The old exercise book has been re-written a thousand times, does anyone have any feedback on www.fishinsight.com . Has anyone used this program or are there better ones out there?
I don't want to spend my day infront of this machine when I could be fishing so it has to be easy and simple to use.

Thanks [Smile]

Why use the computer? Keep a plain old logbook. You can take it along & record events while they're still fresh.

You can enter it in the comp later if ya want.

No intention of taking a computer out fishslaying. As you say just use a good old paper book, but was after something to record where I've been and help plan future trips [cool]

[cool][font "Poor Richard"][green][size 3]Hi there WAGM and welcome to the BFT. Hope that you hang around and share some of your fishing experiences with us. For the heck of it I went to Fishinsight.com and downloaded their demo program. Give me a break. That program needs a Phd. in record keeping to be any fun. Why don't you just use a spreadsheet or a database form to track your catches. You can set your own categories and track what you want versus what someone thinks that you might want.[/size][/green][/font]

Microsoft Excell is the dealio for that. Even better is if you could find a computer-based calender. Then your day, year, month, and moon fase will already be on there; all of which are very important if you're serious about making a log. Then, all you have to add is water temp, location(via GPS or Map numbers), type of rig you used, depth, weather, bait or lure, speed(if you trolled), anything different you added to your set up, and of course the amount and species of fish you caught. And bingo, you've successfully made a professional grade fishing log that will, if properly tracked and maintained, help you target the techniques and stratagies that are working based on different criteria, and thus improving the number of fish you catch in the years to come.
