A beautiful site on Utah Lake...
#1
I took a look out the window at Novell in South Provo today and looked out over Provo Bay (Mud Lake), as I often do. The last 3 years the view has been of what used to be Provo Bay, but was now fields, marshlands and farmers cornfields. In the last week though, this site has slowly changed to something I haven't seen since 1998 -- WATER! Provo Bay is actually filling back up this year - in areas that haven't seen water for many a year!!! And we haven't even officially started the spring runoff yet! This is a great year for Utah Lake. It might not fill to what it was in 97 and 98 when it was almost totally full, but I bet it gets close. Another year like this though will fill it for sure to the top. Personally, I'd like to see it encroach on I-15 like it did back in '82-'83![cool][Tongue]

Sweet! It's always good to see the ponds filling up even before the runoff is raging. And like you said, the runoff doesn't really get going until April. Looks to be a really good water year.

Good to hear about Utah Lake filling up. Keep in mind though, that Utah lake generally fills in the winter months more so than during runoff time. By runoff time the lake usually starts to drop rather than build in depth due to opening of the Jordan river pumps for the irrigators. Hopefully, the huge snowpack may change things but I'm not getting my hopes up for a full lake yet. The runoff first has to fill Jordanelle and Deer Creek first.

I don't know about Jordanelle but I know Deer Creek is already almost full as well, so we'll see. Here's hoping

News reports a couple of days ago said we received over 9 FEET of snow in the mountains in the past 2 weeks!!!! That didn't count this last storm! This will make a huge step to recovery.
The one plus side to the drought will be fore some of the bass fishers. All of the growth in the areas that haven't see water for a couple of years should make some good bass habitat.
This coming from a guy that still needs to figure out where to even start with bass fishing.....maybe this year.....

If you wanna start trying for bass this year, I would recommend Jordanelle for Smallies or Deer Creek for Smallies and Largies. They both produce really well from spring through fall for most people. Utah Lake in the harbors is good for bucketmouths too.
