[font "arial,helvetica"][#0000ff]All the facilities agree that fishing has been really great in spite of the weather ashore.
"Catches were really good this week, anglers are returning with red snapper, Atlantic sharpnose shark, kingfish, barracuda, vermilion snapper, amberjack and dorado.
Since the red snapper season is closing, a start of state water trips on Tuesdays and Fridays have been planed.
At Fisherman’s Wharf, fishing has been good.
Anglers have caught both yellowfin and blackfin tuna as well as red snapper and some amberjack.
On one of the trips, the anglers caught only tuna on the whole trip.
Deep Sea Headquarters says anglers are catching lots of limits of red snapper.( a great way to close the season)
Words for the longer trips, are "tuna, tuna, tuna," both yellowfin and blackfin. Many of the tuna, White reports, have weighed in the 70 to 80 pound range.
They’ve also been catching ling, barracuda, amberjack and grouper.
"Fishing has been excellent," according to Dolphin Dock Inc. "We’ve seen a lot of big yellowfin in the 100-pound plus range."
Several catches have resulted in 200 or more yellowfin tuna.
One of the lucky anglers landed a 191-pound hammerhead and anglers are limiting out on red snapper as a great closeout to the season.
Even though the season is closing, the agency is planning to start state water trips.
Mike Rogers at Woody’s Sports Center says that he was on the south jetty on Oct. 27 when he saw some nice catches of bull reds and large gafftop. He also noticed a couple large sheepshead being caught.
But the rains have adversely affected catching (not fishing) on the north jetty, he added.
