Quote:Tournament Results for the Crappie USA Neely Henry $10,000.00 Super Mega Bucks Event (New Record set at Crappie USA Neely Henry Event)

The excitement was in the air this past Saturday at the Crappie USA Neely Henry Lake $10,000.00 Super Mega Bucks Event as Charles Clark of Parrish, AL set a new all time record with a 4.19 pound white crappie . "To our knowledge this is the largest crappie ever caught in a professional crappie fishing event," said Crappie USA CEO Darrell VanVactor. Charles Clark, who has fished with Crappie USA since the beginning of the organization plans to have the fish mounted and use to display at some events in the future. "My partner Frankie Clark and I were using BnM 14 foot poles along with blue and white Charlie Brewer Sliders when we caught the big fish," said Charles. "He's a strong believer in the Brewer Sliders and the BnM Poles. I had gotten a sample pack of the Charlie Brewer Sliders a few years back at one of the Crappie USA events and it sure made me a believer in them when it comes to catching fish," said Clark. Crappie USA CEO VanVactor said, "The crappie was over 18 inches long with a 16 inch girth. In my 20 years of crappie tournaments it is by far the largest crappie I have ever seen."

Clark has set a new record that will not soon be beaten in competitive fishing and one to be very proud of. This makes 2 new records that have been recorded in Crappie USA events in the past 2 years. Last year a new record catch of 25.83 pounds for 10 fish was set at Mississippi's Grenada Lake. This next Saturday Crappie USA will be hosting their next event at Grenada Lake. Will history repeat itself? Only time will tell.

In all, 126 of the top anglers from around the country merged to Neely Henry for this major Crappie USA event. Many of the anglers knew that the big fish were hitting on the lake, which made for even a greater challenge for anglers competing in the event. These anglers were competing for not only $10,000.00 in cash and prizes, but a chance to advance to the prestigious Cabela's Crappie USA Classic to be held this September on Indiana's Patoka Lake.

I don't think we have that variety in Utah. Our Crappie are Black Crappie, and they do get almost that big in Utah waters. Check the state records; an 17.25 incher came from Quail. Nice fish!

A few years back I was shore fishing at Pineview and walked by a guy that had a huge string of crappie. One of them looked funny because it dwarfed all the others, so I ask the guy if it was a bass he said no it was a crappie. It was over 3 lbs and almost 17 inches, I told him it might be a new state record but he did not seem to care. I wish I had a camera because I doubt I'll ever see one that size again in Utah. WH2

Way back years ago while deer hunting with one shot I nailed a big 6 point right between the eyes the bullet rickashade off his head and broke a branch with 2 big tom Turkeys on it, the branch trapped the turkeys while I gutted the deer. When I was dun Gutting I walked over and rung the turkeys necks. Threw the deer over one shoulder and the Turkeys over the other. As I was heading back the blood was dripping down in my pockets,I had to cross a river and as I did the blood attracted a full limit of crappie into my pockets. This was way too many for my pants to handle and the button poped off and killed a rabbit sitting on the bank. All with one shot.
