How much snow at Scofield?
#1
Hey all, I was wondering how much snow was up at Scofield. I figure I can budge in between all the people up there if push comes to shove, but the snow will probly be the deciding factor. The fishing should be killer this next weekend and I need to get out! Track training sucks! Thanks in advance.

Track Training sucks ? You have apparently never track trained with me and my hounds - they are a blast to track with ! [Wink] Or were you refering to a different kind of track ?

Anyway, Scofield would have a lot of snow still, although I have not been up there yet this year, in the past, the Skyline drive area has generally had snow untill later in the spring - with the snow pack this year, I am sure there is a lot still. Although, if you were looking for someone to ski in and fish with you, let me know. The hounds and I love to ski in to fish just about anyplace because when we do, we can usually find some great solitude and have the fishing to ourselves and we just love to camp in the snow. Snow ski and Fish - a great combination !

Two friends of mine from work went up to Scofield this past Saturday, and they said that there was practically no snow on the ground at Scofield itself. There was snow in the shady parts of the canyon though. They said some places are still iced up, others have only 50 to 100 feet of open water. The South side by Scofield town had a bit more open water in it, but it was very crowded. They said they did well though from tubes flyfishing with dark colored wooly buggers. They caught plenty of fish, but most of them were 12 inches or less. All were release to be caught another day.

Thanks a lot! That's exactly what I wanted to hear. I got a new truck last weekend and I wanted to go somewhere good for its first trip. Sounds like it's gonna be scofield with the pontoon. I'll probly try slow trolling some of my left over minnows from last year. Maybe I can get into a couple nice fish. Thanks again!

Nice way to test out the new truck! Also, they were also catching a lot on a green wooly bugger with a red tail. I guess either they were hitting just about anything or else it was a good crawdad imitation. I hope to get out there soon once I get my new Fish Cat 4 this week!
