All in all we had a great trip with a running total of about 27 kokanee 6 rainbow and some Mack's. the Kokes and Bow's were caught in shallow water area's and depth's. Jared,
Congrats! Sounds like things are already good and will only get better from here! Can't wait til its you and me slay'n them kokes.
So do you offer a prayer of thanks EVERY SINGLE DAY that your life is so darn rough that you have to spend almost every weekend hauling in big fishies at the gorge? (LOL) Just wondering . . .

Good to hear that you had a good trip. I was the guy putting in when you were pulling out. I would have liked to chat with you some, but you seemed to be in a hurry to get on the road. We hit 3 decent kokanee right off in the first 30 minutes and then it slowed from there on. We ended the evening with 8 kokanee and 1 rainbow. Our largest was about 2.5 lbs. It seemed that the kokanee were more spread out than usual and they didn't seem to be in schools at all. Did it seem that way to you?

when i was up their last week i didnt find any good schools of kokes either. i found a few good mac schools though. i found that the bows and kokes were in the shallow bays. i fished mainly stateline, pipeline, and linwood. i imagine when the thermocline becomes more pronounced they will be easier to find.

This is the time of year when they are spread out and tend to be shallower then normal... You have to go to the spot's where you know they hang throughout the year a cover a lot of water...In doing so I have picked up some nice fish already this year. As far as you being able to talk with me I apologize I was in a big hurry to get home and see my 4 year old and 2 year old girl's Due to the fact that I have been traveling alot and then when I am done with work I head to the lake so I felt I needed to spend some time with them before the fishing season really start's. I have already logged 5 trip's (13 day's since the ice came off ) So It only get's worse from here for my girl's so i give them Whatever time I can. Look for me next time you are up and I would be happy to sit down a hang/talk with you. I will be there Every weekend in May so it won't be hard to find me!!!!
Lot's of Luck

Unless the weather scares me off I'll be there on Saturday. The small boat of mine doesn't seem to like the wind very much. I plan to launch out of Lucerne. I was just thinking that if the kokanee were shallow and scattered, using the planer boards could be an advantage (spread the lines, cover more water, and run more poles out of the boat). Has anyone ever tried this on kokanee? Or would I end up dragging a dink kokanee around all day long without noticing the bite on my planer board?

You never know unless you try...I never have but that doesn't mean that it wouldn't work..I personally haven't seen to many right on the surface so that would lead me to believe that it might be more work then it's worth? I'd give it a try for a bit and see what happen's
