"Mountains" of Texas?? The only TRUE mountains in Texas are the Davis Mountains in the FAR southwest corner of the state. Therefore, the answer is no. The main source of water in the mountains is the Rio Grande River which is much to warm to accommodate rainbows. The Rio Grande is more conducive to illegal aliens than fish. In the Texas Hill Country, one of the very best trout fisheries in the state - the Guadalupe tailrace of Canyon Lake - was wiped out by the floods in August. TPW&D and Trout Unlimited have allocated more trout than is planted annually to reestablish the fishery in the Guadalupe River. However, the stocking may be delayed due to cleanup of major proportions.

Check the TPW&D web site for more information on rainbows in the state of Texas.
