I WAS WONDERING THE DIFFERNT TROLLING PATERNS WE ALL USE FOR WIPERS? THE LAST 2 YRS UTWALLEYE AND MYSELF FOUND OUT SOME COOL STUFF ON THIS SUBJECT. IT PRODUCED A 48 WIPER DAY IN 6 OR LESS HRS. RIGHT WHEN EVERYONE ELSE WAS DOING 20 OR SO FISH DAYS BY THE REPORTS WE READ HERE ON THE BOARD. MY 8 YR OLD CAUGHT 19 OF THE 48 FISH. SPANKED DEAR OLD DAD BIG TIME. WHAT ARE PATERNS EVERYONE USES. STRAIT SHOTS UP AND DOWN DIKES OR BIG CICLES FIGURE 8ST ZIG ZAGS EXT. YOU GUYS HAVE A TURNY COMMING UP THIS SHOULD BE THE MAIN FOCUS AFTER PRESINTATION. IM ALSO WONDERING IF ANYONE TARGETS THE SCHOOLS LIKE WE DO. ONCE WE LOCATE BITERS WE DONT LET UP ON THEM TILL THEY MOVE OR STOP HITTING. FIGURE 8S HAVE PROVEN TO WORK BEST FOR US ABOUT 200YRDS OF SHORE.

[black]I use a GPS plotter and mark all hits and hook ups. Like you, I'll work an area until there are no more bites and then I'll start circling the initial area until I get hit again. After a while you can see the direction the school is moving and concentrate in the right area.[/black]

[black]Also I like working a lot of "S"'s in my trolling patterns, changing the speeds of the baits all the time. This gives me an indication of what speeds the fish seem to like and can up or lower my trolling speed depending on which bait is consistently hit.[/black]

When the catching is hot I don't worry about trolling patterns but that is not the way things usually work out. We troll S patterns and keep circling around until we stop catching fish, if we can't find them we move on to the next spot. The plotter that Rich has, worked great for him last year but we'll see what happens this year. How many you catch don't count, unless of course they are the two longest fish on that day. WH2

I too will use s turns and circles in an area until I loose the fish,Then its off to find another spot with bitting fish,BLM tecnique of trolling around the outside of the area to find out which direction there moving is great idea and I will add to the arsenal. I dont know how many times I have trolled out there and not come across a good bite in one area and stayed on the fish,Dont leave an area you caught a fish until you work it over good with different lures.(THANKS AGAIN BLM).sometimes they want lures near the bottom sometime higher up,So mix it up and troll different lures at the same time.
