Utah Lake water levels.
#1
I had a little time this morning before work and headed over to Lincoln beach. I went to my "almost secret" drive-up float tube launch and "outing with my 4 yr. old shore fishing" spot and found it completely flooded[unsure]. I had just fished there easily 3 weeks ago. I launched the tube and kicked around a bit. It looks like it has come up 2-3 ft. in 3 weeks. I then drove around the point towards Goshen and was amazed by the sheer magnitude of flooded vegetation. We might even have the "Goshen Ocean" back soon.

This development makes shore fishing down there harder and I think may spread the fish around some this year, but this year's spawns should be incredible, and we will probably have exceptional fishing at Utah Lake in 2 yrs[Smile]. The skinny eyes we were catching this year should be a thing of the past too. Now, I just have to figure out how to revise my tactics, or join the crowds at the boat launch dikes. Tight lines.

Each day on my way to work I drive over the Provo River near Deseret Industries. The past three days or so, I've watch in amazement at how high and fast the water is rushing through downtown Provo. It's scary to think what the river would do to anyone who might get caught in the torrent it's become.

All things considered, I think it's going to make the river itself a better fishery, as I believe that most of the overgrowth that has grown on the riverbed and along the banks will be washed away, and I know it's going to do a lot to raise Utah Lake's level.

As you said, Doggone, with the flooded vegetation, the spawn this year and the eventual fishing in the next few years ought to be spectacular.

Yeah I work at Novell in East Bay Provo, and I've got a great view of Provo Bay (Mud Lake) from the 7th floor. I've been watching the last few weeks as the dry farmland that was cornfields the last couple of years fill up with water and creep farther and farther east every week. It's still not full, but getting there.

The high water is everywhere. I routinely fly up west of Brigham City and the Bear River has made that area a huge swamp. It’s the first time in years that Ive seen the NorthWest arm of the Great Salt Lake around the bird refuge full of water. I haven’t seen Cache Valley myself but have heard that Cutler has overflowed into surrounding fields as well.
One of these days Ill try to swipe my wifes digital camera and post some pics. (I finally saw the new marina on the West side of Utah Lake.)

If its a big harbor with dikes all around it on the west side of Utah Lake, that is the Pelican Point boat harbor.

Saratoga's harbor is a private one with the entrance being reeds on both sides for a 1/8th of a mile to the docks. There are no dikes on this one.
