A Few Keeper Gags & A Bunch of Fun: SW FL Fishbuster Dave
#1
[cool]we fished sunday with the Purvis party, using live shrimp in 32 feet off Vanderbilt beach, Naples. We caught twenty spanish mackerel to 25 inches, and lots of keeper mangrove snapper to 15 inches. We released a cobia just an inch shy of legal size, along with groyuper shorts. Fishing 9 miles off doc's beach House, Bonita with the Paulin party Monday, we used shrimp to catch two limits of mangrove snapper to 15 inches, triggerfish, porkfish, and large grunts. We used a small grunt for bait, and landed a 32 inch gag grouper. As we reeled that one in, a 300 pound goliath grouper was in hot pursuit, but we managed to boat the gag--Quite a show! We also fought a 4-foot barracuda for a while. Fishing the same spot Tuesday with Don stevenson, we got fifteen king mackerel to 36 inches, two keeper gag grouper at 22" and 27", keeper mangrove snapper, triggerfish & grunts. We caught the gags on pinfish, and the rest on shrimp. Fishing Friday at the Bonita Beach artificial reefs with the salkowski party, we caught keeper-sized sheepshead, mangrove snapper, triggerfish to 16 inches, Spanish mackerel, and grunts. The weekend brought a rainy cold front to keep us on land, but we had fun while the fishing lasted! Find complete info and fish photo album at www.fishbustercharters.com
