I heard this morning that the AF boat harbor is closed due to a large sink hole in the road. The hole ate a boat this past weekend. Does anyone know how long it will be closed for?

I don't know how long it will be closed for, but the sink hole collapsed the road all the way across. I doubt they will repair the road until after the river goes back down to normal levels.

There was an article in the Daily Herald this morning that said they could fix it in 3 days, but they won't until the water goes down because they're afraid it will just wash out again. They said it could be closed for up to a month.

The channel 4 news screwed up. There is no sinkhole, but the water overflows onto the road with a depth of about 6-9 inches at one point and the pavement is somewhat washed out a tad. I don't know where they got the sinkhole pictures from, but it was not on the main road. I personally watched two trucks, a passenger car, and a horde of bikes go through the water with no problem. However, a patrolling sheriff will eventually kick cars out.

Did you get all the way down next to the entrance to the harbor? Last evening when we were fishing the marina, we could see police tape across the road just north of the entrance to the marina. There is a small (typically probably not now) stream that I believe goes under the road at that point.

you can't get down to the harbor they have torn out alot of the roads leading to it and have it blocked off up by the church.
