Echo!!
#1
Decided to try Echo last Monday in my tube stripping some flies. I always see lots of fish jumping here on my way home from other waters.

I fished the eastside and the dam area along the rocks. First cast, I hook into a fat 17 inch rainbow. Third cast another 16 inch rainbow. I make my way toward the dam and hook 4 more rainbows, the biggest being 22 inches.

I reach the dam not getting a whole lot. I finally catch a small rainbow about half way down the dam. I turn around and head back east and feel a violent strike. I'm thinking could this fish top my other rainbow. Fifteen minutes later and get the fish up and it's a brown. A really big brown....I was guess close to 30 inches and 15 -20 lbs...biggest I've ever caught. I almost brought it home to mount it, but I decided to send it back to the depths. I wish I had my camera with me, but usually don't carry it on my tube because of water ruining it.

And I always drive past this place.........

Black wooley buggers/leeches were the ticket. Anyone else have any good fly fishing stories at Echo??

Sounds like you had a great time out there. Congrats on hooking such a nice brown. There are a few big ones in there.

Echo is full. There is only 8-10 feet of boat ramp exposed. Lots of brush along the banks to fish. The high water is washing some dirt away from the banks on the south side, along that dirty water line is where alot of big rainbows are being caught.
