went up to E-lake today to see if i could replenish my minnow reserves.. been out of minnows for to long now..
well got there only one other group there and they said that they had only had 2 bites in 2 hrs..
well i got the traps out and baited up my boys got there poles out and ready.. 1 boy found a worm under a rock he wanted to try wile we tryed to get some minnows..
i hit a small cutt on a spin-a-lure then nothing..
after about 30 min's i checked the traps and wahoo they were loaded with big fat minnows..
then we started catching fish on the minnows as fast as we could cast.. the group that was there when we got there got mad at us and headed up the hill to there camp.
then another group came down and was fishing for about 30 min's before comeing over and asking what i was doing that they were not?
i said useing minnows and set the girl up with a hook and a big fat minnow.. she went 3 or 4 min's before hitting her first fish and missed it.. will she went over to her boy friend and started fishing and i gave them a hand full of minnows befor i left..last i seen they were pulling them in as fast as i was... hehehehe..
huntington is on right now.. the ice is about 30 to 50 feet from the side the whole east side is open and it was looking great!! get there soon for some of the best tiger trout fishing of the year..

That sure is some excellent photography! It may be the "lense" he was using, but it looks like the lake has come up a little. Of course with the big ol drain hole in the bottom, it probably wont get full.

[cool]I look forward to fishing those two lakes on Pioneer Day weekend, when we go up to my wife's family property in Fairview Canyon. I've gotta get me a minnow casting net, and get some practice in before then. That sounds like the bait to use if they aren't hitting on Jakes, or Panther Martins, etc. I know those red sided shiners sure work well at Scofield when we get them in our crawdad traps, so I've gotta get a net soon!

you might want to take your traps to E-lake.. there is way to much brush and rocks mostley brush in E-lake for a cast net.. i ripped a big hole in my cast net 5 day's ago up there..
shiners are the way to go on E-lake!!

Hey Fuzzy, are there minnows in Huntington? Have you ever used minnows to fish for the tiger trout?

i have used minnows at huntington before..some days they are the best thing going there and other times you cant get a bite on them..
there are minnows in huntington but as far as i know there are no red side shiners in there.. just the suckers that have been in there for years..
the suckers i get out of the sand pitch river are the same kind and seem to work well at huntington most the time..

Fuzzy!
I've watched your posts for some time now on minnow fishing, and this may sound like a simple question but could you take a pic of a minnow rig and educate me a bit. Also how are you baiting your minnow trap? I'm always looking to find more ways to catch fish. any insight is appreciated. Thanks
Todd

yeah i was fishing the dam side.. the water it realy muddy right now.. there is alot of run off comeing in the lake right now..
talked to my buddy 3 days ago he works at the skyline mine right behind E-lake between E-lake and scofield.. he said the the back road is still snowed in but should be opening up in a week or so now..
all the fish we were catching up the was on a bobber with about 3feet of leder and a split shot up about a foot from the hook.. fishing about 1 to 5 feet off the shore..
the fish are right up on the shore right now eating up them minnows..
