Rockport 5-29-05
#1
Took the kids to Rockport today. We trolled the west side, hooking up a fish or two off every point. In 4 hours we totalled 23 slime rockets in all. Kept two...(yum) .

Anyone heard whats going on with the launch fees at Echo? 4 weeks ago, it was $7.00 to launch. last weekend it was $10.00. Today they wanted $15.00. Is it me or is this a little extreme?

Two weeks ago it was $10.00 and that seemed high. If they raise it to $15.00, I won't fish it. The services there are very poor quality any ways.

You all may want to look into the possibility that it is a privately owned marina, I dont know if it is or not. I do know that if it is..they can charge what they want. use it or not they set the rate. course if you charge say 20 and no one launches a boat you may want to consider a discount.....they other factor is a TON of water sports other than fishing use that lake too....maybe for them that is not a steep tariff for dish out for a day of abusing fishs hearing. just a thought.

I am pretty sure it is privately owned, Still at $15.00 a day, that sure increases the costs of a day spent enjoying the water. Maybe with the low water last year, they are trying to make up some losses.

[cool]I'll be damned! I always though it was a state park, but what do I know? I've never launched a boat there, just ice fished, but I always thought that place was a state park.

The last time we fished echo, every fish we caught was over 18". I would like to go back there, but I can drive 10 miles further and launch at Rockport for $7.00 . Besides, Rockport has nicer facilities. Regardless, I think I am going to call the Echo resort tomorrow and ask them whats up.
