Live well cleaning
#1
[red] Say, does anyone know what I can use to clean and or scrub my Live well in my boat ? I am planning on using it this saturday, but it has some nasty's in it and needs to be cleaned out. I don't want to kill the fish from soap or a caustic cleaner, If you know what I mean . Thanks for any help.[/red]

Try to wet it down and use some baking soda,it removes alot of the smell, and in the past it hasn't hurt the next catch.

I just use soap and water. Works fine, just rinse it well. Then turn it on next time when you start fishing. Never had a problem. Also, I take the fish out of it before I empty it, that way it empties pretty clean. If you leave the top up when you get home, it doesn't develop the odor it does if you leave it closed. Which means less cleaning.

Dan,

I would recommend "10 gallons of ACETONE" if you are going to be competing with Kent and I![Tongue]

Just kidding my friend, regular soap and water and a good rinse will do the trick. Leave your drain open and fill the tub with clear water a couple times and let air dry in the sun or garage.

Works for humans doing dishes right!

Throw a little bit of bleach in and it will help get rid of any mold. Rinse it out good and it shouldn't hurt the fish at all. I figure if you can purify water with bleach it should be ok. Just make sure you're careful of what it gets on ie. clothes, etc.
