willard report
#1
[Smile]fished willard today. Caught about 25 wipers and 4 walleye. The walleyes were caught around the island north of the south marina. Ninety per cent of the wipers were caught in front of the feed lot in 18 feet of water. Two were 22 inches long one was 20 inches long. The rest were little dinks. Water temp was 62 degrees.

Thanks for the great report, it is sure encouraging to hear there are still some nice size wipers being caught. Were you using the same lures for the walleye that you used for the wipers? WH2

I'll be going up early Friday. It's going to rain with the front moving in, but hopefully the walleye won't get lockjaw. Thanks for the report. What were you using for the walleye? Last one I caught up there hit a Wally Diver running at 16 feet in 23 feet of water. The wipers were up.

We have been using lead core for years at Willard, it can work good at times for walleye. We let out line until we start hitting bottom then reel up a little. The only problem is when the bottom comes up too quick and your not paying attention, you can snag the bottom and then you better be ready to turn the boat around quick. That lead core takes up a lot of line on a reel, so the bottom can spool you quick. WH2
