Fished for 3 days over the weekend and only caght 6 fish. The water conditions, well all i can say high and muddy. we fished the lakesfork river, and Twin pots res. just below moon lake. My wife had a moose in camp while my son and I were out fishing friday morning aparantly it was following her dog around camp, i guess the bull was lonely and wanted someone to play with. she wasnt to happy with me though I had both cameras in the truck.

Thanks for the report, too bad the catching wasn't better. Did you fish Moon lake or did you get a chance to see the water level? WH2

I was up at Moon Lake over Memorial weekend. The lake is still low, just barely reaching the channel towards the spillway. I spoke with the owner of Moon Lake Resort and he said they were just letting the water flow out of there this spring and in the last week they are starting to hold it back. He said the water level rose 14 feet in 5 days and they expect it to full capacity by mid week next week.
Fishing wasnt incredible due to the murky water, but some big splake were being caught. I was out on a pontoon and marked a bunch of fish. I look forward to getting out there again this summer and next fall to chase some big splake.

Any report on the snow conditions around Moon Lake and the Lake Fork drainage? How much snow and at what elevation?

There wasn't any snow down that low,we camped on the lakefork river. I doubt there was any snow at Moon lake. But there is still alot up on the tops. I would bet Lakesfork and the Yellowstone rivers will run high for at least another month.

I know it's hard to believe but they have gone down this year.
for an adult season permit it is $30 plus a $10 conservation stamp.
