Took the kids to Maybey on Friday evening. The wind was howling and we were dressed in shorts and sandals. It was so warm earlier in the day, didn't realize that a cold front was moving through. Even though it was cold the water was warm and the blugills were happily biting. We caught 10 small gills and one small crappie. This is the first crappie that I have personally seen come out of there, though I have heard reports of them in the past. All fish were small only about 4 to 6 inches long. The kids didn't care though and had fun watching their bobbers go under and trying to hook the fish. We used size 8 circle hooks and never had a single fish swallow the bait. We used a small piece of nightcrawler as bait. I fished for cats the whole time and never caught a fish.
