fast times at trial lake
#1
headed out to the uintas on wensday tried to drive up and camp at moosehorn but quickly found 3+ feet of snow with up to 5ft at bald mountain pass so we turned around and headed down to a nice spot with less snow.

We decided to stop at trial and see how things were lookin. and it was compleatly ice covered that night.[pirate]

fished the provo river from slate gorge to the upper falls with only 3 dink brookies and 2 8 inch rainbows in 2 days river is still high and fast but i do like what thay have done with the bridges this year.

on saturday morning we headed back to trial and hiked to the far side of the spillway and was into the fish on the first cast good ole worms will always do it at ice off. my buddies were usin silly puddy and catching just as fast all fish were in the 12-16 inch range with one albino hog at 18" and he's still swimmin right in the spillway[Wink] cant wait for moosehorn to ice off. rangers have pushed back all reservations for the upper lakes till july 17th just to let ya'll know

Are all the campgrounds through that area still closed, or just "up top?"

all campgrounds above mile marker 23 are closed until sometime in july but i imagine with this spell of hot windy weather that will change

Yep, I was up there Friday and every cast produced a hit. No goo-roddin' for me though, a type II line with a wooly bugger did the trick just fine.

I fished nearby Echo lake at about the same time. We were having good success on fly and bubble combinations. Adams flies seemed to work best. Fly fishing was good too. I heard there was snow further up the road, I was curious to know how much.

Plenty of snow up the road. Last weekend the summit had at least 4 or 5 feet. The snow starts just past Trial, and continues well past Mirror Lake. Still going to be some time before that area is really accessible.
