[cool]ocean, here's my response to another's post on crawdading:
Yes, the crawdads in the berry are starting to get active. I was there a week ago Saturday in a rainstorm for 3-4 hours with used fried chicken bones in two tiny traps and still caught about 40. I think if I had had raw chicken and been in a better spot, I could have slayed them. They were pretty good sized ones too. Good luck! And, while we're swapping info, ocean, what kind of minnow trap do you use when you are at E-lake, Scofield, etc. Are there lots of different kinds, or what? [signature]

[cool]By the way, I was on the soldier creek side. Forgot to mention that. Just look for an area with lots of rocks and weeds too.

Its the one that looks like a crawdad trap. They sell them at sportsmans. One trip and they pay for themselves! Its worth the $10-$15 i paid for.Just make sure you have it tied up really good! My daughter has lost 2 of my minnow traps at huntington and e-lake![pirate]

[cool]Thanks for the reply, ocean. Gotta get one of those! Good luck for the 'dads at the berry. I think you can get into a ton of 'em right now on the Soldier Creek side.

Do you mean those traps that are black, and have a hole on each end? These also work for minnows? I thought the diamond pattern on the trap was big enough for the minnows to get out of. What do you use to catch minnows anyhow?

Ive got that style of minnow trap and cut the openings larger for the crawdads. It works well. Ive never had any luck for minnows. I probably need a good bait. Any sugestions??

There are 2 types of traps they look the same but the holes are different in size. Make sure you get the right one for minnows the hole is smaller. Also i have used bread balled up very tight and salami hot dogs and even chicken skin fishluver told me about that one.
