The bass will be shallow. "sneak" up to them. Make long casts parallel to the bank and hold on! Polarized Sunglasses will be the trick. If you see any bedded fish, throw a "JB Special" Plastic Tube at them. The smaller the better. Cast past them and "walk" the tube to the nest. Whamo!
If no bedded fish, chek the shadowed ledges and throw "wacky" rigged senkos 4" [greens ~ browns ~ smoke] colors.
Slow falling senkos will hammer the fish!

Where are you planning on fishing the Green at night ? I use to fish that a lot at night up from Little Hole . What a hoot . Wish I could do it again .

I have done great fishing from shore with out wading at steinaker. You can wade safely down by the Old inlets. I have done well with floating rapala's, spinners(mepps) and Buzz baits. I have not done too well from shore at Red Fleet. There's Brush creek shortly after the turn off for Red Fleet. There's also great stream fishing on the Red Cloud loop

The north end at Steinaker is shallow and flat and this time of the year has a ton of flooded vegetation you can wade around and through. I would think that would be your best bet for bass from shore. Red fleet is tough without a boat, there really isn't very much access to the lake without a good hike and most of the banks are sharp drop offs.
At night on the green try jointed floating rapalas in gold and black. Don't overlook curl tail grubs, tube jigs and jerk baits. Don't forget that your plastics have to be scent free on the green. The freshwater basics is a good, inexpensive line of scent free plastics and sportsmans has a pretty good selection.

I don't know if this reply is too late but You can do well for Slimebows from shore just about any where. There's a nice little place in the tree's over by the road for the State park. It's a little walk.
East park Reservoir on the Red Cloud Loop is also nice place for a picnic and stream fishing below the dam can be red hot for brookies and slimebows. I do well with just a little piece of worm on a shelled hook.

Hi,
At the present time, Ashley Creek is a roaring river. Ashley feeds Steinaker and also the Vernal water treatment plant. Ashley is very dirty and the Vernal water treatment plant has been taking water from Red Fleet. When things settle down you can fish Ashley above the water treatment intake plant. This requires a little hiking, and the intake plant is not easy to find, but located off Taylor Mountain Road. Brush Creek near the inlet to Red Fleet has fair stream fishing. I fished Steinaker last Sunday and Monday, got lot's of bows, and only 2 bass. Two bows went 3-pounds, and we had lots of one and one and half pounders. I am mainly a bass and walleye fisherman, but since I learned a good way to cook trout, I keep a few to eat. The only way I eat them is to fillet them, then deep fat fry them in peanut oil. As far as fresh water fish goes, you can not beat a walleye for eating. Right now, the best bass fishing would be at Pelican Lake. You will get a lot of bites, and the majority will be bug bites.
RiverRat, I don't very often fish from shore, have a 15-foot Gregor boat, had a old Johnson 25 hp motor, but it pretty much gave up the ghost last Monday evening. I called Lee's Marine tuesday morning and ordered a new Merc 15 hp four stroke engine. Probably will not be ready until after the 4th of July. I could have got it earlier but would have had to pay freight. He said, he would order it July first in is monthly alotment then I get free freight and a discount. They had a tiller handle model in stock, but I have remote steering. So if you are interested in some Vernal area bass fishing from a boat, send me a private email. I have landed nice bass from both Steinaker and Red Fleet, but I love Red Fleet because of the scenery...one of the prettiest lakes in Utah.
