E-Lake!!
#1
Went up to E-lake this Sunday and boy was it beautiful up there! I cant believe how green and fresh it is up out of the valley. The fishing was great up there. Used a minnow just about 10 to 15 feet from the shore and we caught like 40 between 4 of us. mostly cutts but we did get a few bows.

Good to here that you did so well.
I took the family up to E-lake on Saturday but the wind was blowing so hard it made it hard to fish. We did manage to fill the trap with Minnows so I will be ready for the next trip, hopefully this week.

What are did you fish?

We fished near the inlet. Worms below a bobber worked well also. the Minnows we had were different than the ones in the lake but they seemed to work also, wish i had a trap so i could get some minnows for the next trip.

Oh yes e-lake is a beautiful place to go and catch fish. The fish may not be the biggest but there are plenty of them to go around! Invest in a minoow trap and it will pay for itself in one trip.[cool]

[cool]Nice report, fuzzy! Man, I'm so excited to get up there and breathe all that clean air and catch some nice slimerockets I can hardly stand it! Can't wait for Pioneer Day Weekend. I gotta get me a minnow trap soon.

Couple of questions. Did you say there are crawdads up there at E-Lake, or was it Hunington, or both? Also, what do you use for bait in your minnow traps? I've heard others say they use bread or a bun of some sort and wad it up tight with some chicken skin or solami in there. I've also heard others say they mix some powerbait in with the bread. What works best for you at E-Lake?

well i am sorry to report that this year is the first year i have seen crawdads in E-lake.. and the ones i seen were good size so they have been there for some time or just planted by some jerk.. ether way it has them now.. i dont know about huntington i have not seen crawdads in there but i dont fish it much when you can see the dad's i mostly ice fish there..

bait for the trap? man if you can find something that will work every time i would like to know what it is.. i do the power bait in the bun. dog food, cheese. and alot of other things not one is for sure.. thats why i use 3 or 4 traps at a time with diffrent bait to find out what the minnows wants..yesterday i had 3 traps come in with not'a but had two other traps come in full so it made up for the other one not getting any..
i take a bag or 2 of minnows with me up there just to be safe there have be days i could not get any in the traps at all.. the later it gets in the year the harder it is to trap minnows up at E-lake..

I've seen crawdads in e-lake for over 15 years, maybe they are just starting to become more abundent with the increased flows and food supply.
