I am looking to take my family up to Whittney in the Uintahs for the weekend for some R&R and mostly fishing. Has anybody been up there lately? and if so what is the snow conditions if any?
Thanks,
Paitence! Only another 6 months until ice fishing.

We usually go up and fish Whittney, but the past few years has been very bad. A good friend of ours likes to fish the lake above Whittney, i think it's called beaver or something like that. He says there are bigger fish up in it. So give it a try if you can get to it.

I was up there 3 weekends ago. It was a marginal weekend, cold with rain/snow, but we did catch some fish at Whitney. I spend quite a bit of time up in that country, and I couldn't believe how low that reservoir has been the last two years. Well, its flip-flopped, and it fuller than I have ever seen it. My wife, son, and I caught about a dozen of last year's planters (12-14in) using rooster tails in a variety of colors. Interestingly enough, most of the fish were caught, by letting the spinner drop to the bottom. As soon as you started reeling in, thats when the hits came. It was fun, but it would have been nice to hook into some of those big brookies or cutts. Good luck!
