Species help
#1
Through the intrest of my 7 yr old son, I have found a new passion....fishing. We just got started and have been reading and educating ourselves on rigging, where to fish, how to fish, and so on. We live in the Murfreesboro area and fish Elam's Mill, Lytle Creek, and my father-in-law's pond. While we are having a great time and catching a few fish we don't always know what we have caught. I was wondering if anyone knew where we could get some flash cards that would have a picture of the fish on one side and info on the other. I think this would be a great way to get to know the different species for beginning anglers. Also, I was wondering if anyone knows any folks that will let us fish on their private ponds. I have heard there is one out Bradyville PK that will let kids fish free and charge adults $5 for catch and release. This sounds very affordable to me and would be intersted in finding any other such places in the area. I also heard there was good fishing on the section of the Stones River off Warrior Dr. Anyone know where we could bank fish that area? My dad wasn't a fisherman and I can only remember going fishing one time with cane poles so I didn't grow up fishing but have found it a very enjoyable way to spend some time with my son. I have also found it a great way to practice patience because I finally realized that I have to put done my rod sometimes to help him out and my initial reaction to that is somewhat frustrating but thankfully, I came to the realization that I want this to be a positive experience for him so I am willing to do that. It seems I catch a lot more than him and I'm really wanting him to get a fish soon so he dosen't loose intrest. Shew! lots of words here but any replies are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance and good luck.
